Tourism Doctor are rightly proud of the success of the portals we have created to promote southern Scotland and the businesses within the region. This success comes on many levels and in many forms and here is a list of our achievements to date:

  • Google, the worlds leading search engine, has now indexed a similar number of Tourism Doctor web portal pages as it has pages on the national portal of VisitScotland.com
  • Visitor numbers to our leading portals now averages over 100,000 unique visits per month and regularly exceeds 160,000 unique visits per month.
  • Page View numbers show that every 7seconds of every day someone accesses a page of information on one of our web sites, the majority of which are accommodation pages.
  • Traffic numbers visiting Tourism Doctor portals have increased by over 55% since January 2007.
  • Visitsouthernscotland.co.uk now has over 1400 businesses listed.
  • Our websites also generate between 10 and 20 booking enquiries every day going direct to our subscribed providers equating to over 5000 booking enquiries annually.
  • From statistical analysis we calculate these enquiry rates generate in the region of 98,500 bed nights, based on an average of 2 persons staying 3 nights per visit.
  • Based on these figures and other research, we calculate (based on Visit Scotland's Tourism in Scotland 2007 statistics on average spend per person per night being £55) that currently Tourism Doctor web portals help generate in excess of £5 million annually, for the local ecomony.
